RESOLUTION

Starting from Plesk 8.3 list management has been improved.

Depending on mail server installed mail lists can be managed as moderated, or non-moderated. They can require administrative moderator e-mail or it can be optional. These settings can be changed in Plesk CP, Domains, domain.tld, Mail lists

Here are details about list management depending on mail servers used in Plesk.

MailEnable

MailEnable requires moderator’s email to be configured. This email can either internal (belongs to this domain) or external one. Moderator’s email is required if mail list is configured as moderated (by default Plesk creates mail list as not moderated). MailEnable allows changing of mail list moderator’s email.

Merak

Merak does not require configuration of list owner (moderator's email). Moderator’s email can be either internal email or external one, even non-existent and. It does not depend on mail list type - moderated or not moderated. Merak allows changing of list owner email (moderator's email).

SmarterMail

SmarterMail requires moderator’s email to be configured (and mail lists are always created as moderated). Also moderator’s email has to exist and be from the same domain where mail list is created. SmarterMail allows changing of moderator's email.

MDaemon

MDaemon requires moderator’s email to be configured only in case the list is created as moderated (by default Plesk creates mail list as not moderated), otherwise moderator’s email is not used. Moderator’s email can be either internal email or external one, even non-existent and. MDaemon allows changing of mail list moderator's email.

hMailServer

hMailServer does not use  moderator’s email functionality, all mail list are not moderated.

CommuniGate Pro

CommuniGate Pro requires moderator’s email to be configured (mail lists are always created  as moderated Also moderator’s email has to exist and be from the same domain where mail list is created. CommuniGate Pro does not allow changing of  mail list moderator's email (mail list is owned by moderator and cannot be changed).
