[FIX] Some websites keep asking password when trying to access them.

SYMPTOMS

Website keeps asking password when trying to access it.


The following error is displayed:

HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to an ACL set on the requested resource.

All NTFS and IIS permissions are configured correctly for sure. IUSR password is set properly as well.

CAUSE

In case ALL NTFS and IIS permissions are configured correctly the possible problem could be that computer name is equal or more than 15 symbols. It is knows Microsoft issue that IIS cannot handle queries in this case.

RESOLUTION

Please rename computer with shorter name and reboot one.
