Smarter Mail was installed on a Plesk server but it has a ‘not configured’ status in Plesk After setting up correct login and password for SmarterMail the following message is displayed:`Some fields are empty or contain an improper value`.

First of all please make sure that SmarterMail was tried to be detected by Plesk properly. To force detection , please go to Plesk, Server, Component Management and click to Refresh button to let Plesk run its internal utility to detect/redetect SmarterMail (or any other component). After that please go to Mail Server link from the list of components on this page and choose SmarterMail as default Mail server.
If the problem still persists please try the solution below:
Smarter Mail service is configured through Web Server. The following Web servers can be used for Smarter Mail Web service:
1. Smarter Mail Web Service – native web server shipped with Mail Server.
2. Microsoft Internet Information Services – web server, recommended for use by Smarter Mail.
More information on switching Smarter Mail web provider
Since version 7.6 Plesk allows selecting web server provider for SM web service: IIS or SM native Web Server. Configuration parameters for SmarterMail package are needed to connect to Web Service (regardless of the selected web server).
If connection to the web service can’t be established Plesk returns the message:
Not Configured
To avoid this problem, the web server selected as a web provider for SmarterMail needs to be running.

Note: SmarterMail is not shipped with Plesk and should be downloaded from vendor's website and installed separately
