[FIX] Getting ‘Timeout Expired’ error when attempting to backup or restore Plesk domains.

Symptoms

When attemting to backup one or more Plesk domains or restore them from a Plesk backup I get the error:

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Resolution

You can adjust ADO connection settings by editing the Windows registry. It is recommend to backup the registry before modifying to be able to roll back quickly.

1. Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PLESK\PSA Config\Config
    Value Type: DWORD
    Value: ADOConnectionTimeout

Indicates the time period, in seconds, after which unsuccessful connections are terminated. The default value is 15.

2. Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PLESK\PSA Config\Config
    Value Type: DWORD
    Value: ADOCommandTimeout

Indicates the time period, in seconds, after which unsuccessful commands are terminated. The default value is 30.
